Dropbox Issues: Companies to Start Thinking More Seriously About Enforcing a Strict BYOD Policy

Not so much the idea of BYOD itself, but the refusal of many employers to believe in its significance and the contribution to the workplace that it is capable of. A recent study conducted by ITProPortal.com shows that 60 percent of companies do not have a reasonable BYOD policy in place. What this means is that corporate security can become a large problem if employees are conducting company business on their own devices, and an effective security policy isn’t properly safeguarding proprietary information. The single biggest security issue that results is from dropbox issues.

Did GoldieBlox Infringe on Beastie Boys Copyright?

Currently the the engineering field is governed by men. In GoldieBlox’s effort to pursue their mission they may have infringed on Beastie Boy’s copyright. In one of GoldieBlox’s YouTube Videos, a group of adorable girls created a “Rube Goldberg machine made of re-purposed pink toys.” A Rube Goldberg machine is a contraption that performs a simple task but with an elaborate chain reaction.

Protecting intellecutal property (IP) has been an issue since the dawn of modern industry. Debates rage over who it was that actually invented the radio, and many other products and technologies. Somewhere out there, Al Gore is probably still laying claim to this Internet thingy. Let’s take it one step further: Just a small bit of research shows that Xerox actually had the original designs for the mouse as a user interface and with it, the first personal computer to be sold for home use. Then, they gave a free tour of their facilities to some guy named Steve Jobs…D’Oh!

Protect Your IP with Trademarks

Whether it be the golden arches of McDonald’s, the three stripes representing Adidas, or Apple’s apple with a bite, trademarks stare us in the face day in and day out. The best trademarked logos are those most easily remembered by their consumers. Hence, you can understand why the protection of these trademarks is such an important part of business; their trademarks are what lead consumers to easily associate particular symbols with the appropriate company.

Regardless of whether a company is established and marketed their company to be well recognized, protection of trademarks can still become a problem. For example, many people around the United States and beyond can come up with In-N-Out Burger’s logo, the distinctively shaped yellow arrow pointing to the burger joint’s location off the freeway. The In-N-Out franchise was born in 1948, and although found mostly in California, the company has recently started to expand east.
